1. A 1-Hour Threadlift Facelift & Necklift will last 5 years?
TRUE: Many individuals say that a traditional facelift and necklift will last 5-10 years and a Threadlift facelift and necklift will last 1-5 years. The reality is that a Threadlift facelift and necklift is one of the only types of face and neck lift procedures that creates a permanent suspension of the soft tissues and a Threadlift will permanently elevate the tissues. Unfortunately, no surgical procedure (Threadlift facelift, traditional facelift, or otherwise) can stop the aging process, so you will continue to see additional signs of aging over time. The skin and soft tissues can literally age around the suspension threads. However, you will continue to look years younger than you would if you had not had the Threadlift performed at all.
2. Only board certified plastic surgeons can perform a Threadlift facelift?
FALSE: Any licensed medical practitioner can perform a Threadlift procedure. Unfortunately, there is no regulation or law that prevents any physician (e.g. Internal Medicine, OB/BGYN, Dermatology, and even Emergency Room physicians) from calling themself a “Cosmetic Surgeon”. There are even impressive sounding organizations such as the “Cosmetic Surgery Society” to which any physician can apply for membership. It is imperative that each patient identify an experienced Plastic Surgeon certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery (the only board officially recognized to certified Plastic Surgeons) who specializes in cosmetic surgery. Ideally, your chosen surgeon will have extensive experience with both traditional facelift techniques and minimially invasive facial rejuvenation techniques such as the Threadlift.
3. All physicians must obtain training before performing a Threadlift facelift?
FALSE: Any licensed healthcare practitioner with a medical license can legally perform medical procedures, including Threadlift facelift and necklift procedures. It is up to the consumer to identify a reputable, experienced board certified plastic surgeon to perform their cosmetic procedure. Additionally, it is up to the consumer to verify that the surgeon they have selected is experienced in both traditional facelift procedures as well as minimally invasive facelift procedures such as the Threadlift.
4. A Threadlift facelift is safer than a regular facelift?
TRUE: A Threadlift facelift is the safest surgical facelift available. Because the incisions are small and there is no interruption of the blood supply to the skin, the risk of skin related healing problems should be close to zero. In fact, the procedure is so safe that it can be performed at the same time as a laser resurfacing procedure and it can be performed in smokers (although we encourage everyone to stop smoking!). Further, because the nerves to the skin and muscles are not severed or stretched with a Threadlift facelift, the risk of significant nerve injury is greatly reduced.
5. Are men good candidates for a Threadlift facelift?
YES: Men can truly benefit from a Threadlift facelift. With a traditional facelift, the beard hairline is frequently moved closer to the opening of the ear and behind the earlobe, resulting in unwanted hair growth. However, because there is no skin excision (as there is with a traditional facelift) the hairline is not transposed with a Threadlift facelift. Also, the Threadlift facelift avoids pulling on the skin, enabling a soft, natural restoration of facial contours.
6. How does the Threadlift Facelift differ from the Lifestyle Lift® offered by other physicians?
ANSWER: Lifestyle Lift® (a registered trademark of Lifestyle Lift Holding, Inc.) refers to an open facelift technique with an large incision in front of (and sometimes also behind) the ear. Like any other open facelift technique, a permanent scar results from this incision. Dr. Summers’ One Hour Facelift is performed with a single small incision hidden above the ear. Additionally, the One Hour Facelift uses permanent sutures to hold the cheeks and jowls up more effectively than many other facelift techniques. Finally, the Lifestyle procedure is performed by physicians who are members of a business called Lifestyle Lift Holding, Inc., many of whom are not certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and who do not offer any alternatives to the Lifestyle procedure. 7. The "threads" used in a Threadlift facelift are not really threads at all?
TRUE: The Threadlift facelift procedure uses regular permanent sutures which have been approved by the FDA. The permanent sutures have been carefully treated around the edge to create a rough surface, like a “burr” or “barb”. This roughened edge catches the tissues and provides substantial lifting of the treated area.
8. A Threadlift facelift and necklift is less expensive than many other types of facelift and necklift procedures?
TRUE: Other facelift procedures can cost 4-5x more than the Threadlift facelift. And with the One Hour Facelift and Necklift procedure, patients can enjoy long-lasting results without the downtime associated with other facelift procedures.
