Maryland Buttock Lift Surgeon - Dr. Summers

Baltimore, Annapolis

Dr. Summers, at his Maryland Plastic Surgery facility, helps Baltimore, Maryland buttock lift patients enhance their figures with a buttock lift procedure. Below you will find an explanation of the different types of procedures in addition to a list of frequently asked questions.

There are three different methods of recontouring the buttock: liposuction, buttock implants and fat transfer.

For Dr. Summers’ buttock lift Maryland patients, liposuction can recontour the buttocks and, when properly performed, will even cause the buttocks to rotate upward slightly.  For these patients in Maryland, implants or fat transfers are frequently requested to obtain a more prominent buttock.

Due to the high rate of potential complications associated with buttock implants, Dr. Summers recommends fat transfers instead.  Fat transfers involve the removal of fat from other areas (e.g. abdomen, thighs, hips), purification of the fat, and reinjection of the fat into the buttock region. This technique has become known as the “Brazilian Butt Lift”.

After undergoing the Brazilian butt lift in Maryland, patients enjoy youthful, prominent, perky buttocks and a more sensual body profile. The procedure is designed to fill the upper quadrant of your buttocks so that the buttocks appear lifted and perky. The resulting effect is that the woman appears more attractive and sensuous.

In addition to the buttock lift procedure, Dr. Summers offers other body contouring procedures at his Baltimore plastic surgery center. Please visit these pages to learn about how Dr. Summers helps Baltimore liposuctiontummy tuck, and body lift patients.

Frequently Asked Questions About Buttock Lift in Maryland:

Click on a question below to see the answer.

A: It is a relatively common practice for Dr. Summers to perform multiple procedures during one operation at the Maryland Plastic Surgery Center.  This allows Dr. Summers to better “sculpt” your final appearance.  In addition, having several procedures done simultaneously saves you the expense of paying the operating room and anesthesia costs more than once.

A: During your consultation we will discuss your desired changes and expectations, review your medical history and current health, and make an assessment on whether the procedure(s) in question are right for you.  This is a good time to ask specific questions about the procedure so that you are fully prepared, mentally and emotionally, for surgery.  We will discuss the results that can be achieved, with the aid of photos and/or computer imaging.  When a final decision is made, you will need to sign an informed consent stating that you are fully aware and understand what is entailed by your pending operation, including the potential complications and secondary effects.

A: After a Brazilian Butt Lift, patients are instructed to wear their post-operative compression garment at all times for the next three weeks.  The garment helps to contour the body and speeds the resolution of swelling.  It is important to avoid sitting directly on the augmented buttocks for the first three weeks after surgery.

The actual length of recovery varies with each buttock lift Maryland patient.  Bruises usually disappear within a week or so, and the majority of swelling is gone in 6-8 weeks.  If you follow our post-operative instructions carefully, you will be able to enjoy your normal activities within no time.  The image-enhancing effects of plastic surgery become more evident over time with certain procedures taking up to a year for your body to fully adjust and settle into its new look.  When you come in for your consultation we can discuss your expected recovery period and any post-operative instructions in detail.

A: There are two ways to enlarge the buttocks: buttock implants or the Brazilian Butt Lift with fat injections.

A: Dr. Summers prefers to augment the butt using fat injections. This method results in the most natural and sensual look for the buttock area. Additionally, the fat transfer method avoids the higher risk of infection associated with buttock implants.

A: The buttocks are first contoured by performing liposuction in the areas around the buttocks to make them stand out more. Common areas liposuctioned include the back- directly above the butt, the stomach, and the thighs.

The fat suctioned from these areas is carefully processed and purified. Only a fraction of the removed fat will qualify for re-injection to the buttocks. In order to get enough qualified fat, Dr. Summers must liposuction at least 2 areas of your body. After liposuction, Dr. Summers carefully purifes the fat so that only the best donor fat cells are reinjected back into your buttocks for augmentation. The fat is placed or transferred to the buttocks with special cannulas.

Dr. Summers injects small amounts of purified fat into different areas of the buttocks and at various depths. Correct injection methods are essential to achieve a uniform, smooth, natural appearance to the buttocks.

An additional benefit of this fat injection method is that you not only get a more shapely buttock, but the area liposuctioned is now much leaner, giving your profile a more sensuous look. Dr. Summers prefers to perform this method of butt augmentation, as the combination of liposuction and fat injections produces the most attractive and natural profile.

A: Following the butt augmentation procedure, you must not sit directly on your buttocks for two weeks. Most people can return to work in 2 weeks, provided you do only a minimum amount of sitting. You must wear a special garment (to control swelling) for two weeks. You should be able to resume all normal activities 4 weeks after surgery.  However, there may be residual swelling up to 8 weeks after the procedure.

A: The average TOTAL cost of the Brazilian Butt Lift (lower body liposuction and butt augmentation using fat injections) is $8,000-$14,000.  This fee includes the surgeon’s fee, anesthesia, surgery center costs, and all post-operative office visits. The fee varies depending on the amount of fat which needs to be extracted in order to achieve the desired result. Dr. Summers will determine the number of areas which need to be liposuctioned in order to achieve your goal. This is discussed at length in your consultation.
